Illamasqua Matte lip liquid in forbidden | Beauty

So lately I've been diving deep into my purse and purchasing some high end makeup, I've been going into London more ( yes Selfridges take all my wages! ) and treating myself a little too much :P

I bought Illamasqua's Matte Lip Liquid in Forbidden literally right after it launched as I fell in love with the colour, And it's been in my blogging drafts for a while because I just couldn't make my mind up about it! When I purchased this It was my first time in Selfridges and It was the first time I'd seen an Illamasqua counter so I think I did well to only buy one thing, However I wish I had tried it on and worn it around before buying it as If I'm 100% honest, I might of not purchased it.

So why on the Fence? I'm not sure if this has happened to everyone else, but Mascara's are a very personal thing, One in particular the YSL Shocking Mascara, I both Love it and Hate it. One day I'll apply it and my lashes will look amazing, then the next day I'll reach for it and apply it in the same way and it will go clumpy, It wont sit right, it will smudge and I'll get panda eye and I'll think the mascara gremlins came in and fucked with my makeup. Just me? Well, This Matte Lip Liquid is just like that. When I applied it in the store and purchased it there and then, Myself and some blogging friends went to Lunch. It didn't transfer, It didn't budge. I was blown away by such a gorgeous pigmented shade applying like a gloss, sitting matte and having epic colour pay off that didn't budge! Was a bit of a pain to actually get off which only sealed the deal of needing a lush lip scrub, Not that I was complaining. The next day, true to form I applied it and found it went a bit tacky on the lip on the inner part, I would feel bits where its slightly rubbed and clumped together.
After several weeks of trialing and testing I finally figured it out several tips if wearing this

  • This is a 1 coat wonder ladies. DON'T apply more than one coat or it will go clumpy bitty.
  • When applying the coat, do be generous and keep lips parted to allow it to go matte and dry. Failure to let dry and putting your lips together will result in, Yep, you guessed it. Clumpy bits!
  • While Lip Liquid is on, Avoid licking your licks and then blotting them.
  • Actually, Just don't blog your lips. Period.
Have you tried Illamasqua's Matte Lip Liquid?

  5. You're so right! That happens with me and beauty products all of the time! I'll love it one day and be like....what the.....the next day. Maybe it has something to do with what other products we're using, the climate, or just gremlins as you said. :-) I appreciate the tips you've compiled in case any of us do end up trying this though. :-)
